Long Island's Town of Oyster Bay Has Agreed to Pay $3.95 Million and, Approve A Bethpage Mosque’s plans In A Settlement:
TOB has agreed to end a contentious legal battle between Muslims on Long Island Inc. and the wealthy North Shore town of Oyster Bay in a case that drew scrutiny from the Justice Department. Dispute exposed how town officials allegedly weaponized zoning laws and even manufactured testimony to kill the project, New York Post has reported.
“This agreement resolves outstanding planning concerns and allows us to move forward in good faith as one community,” Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino said about the settlement.
The existing property of the Masjid Al-Baqi used to be an Italian restaurant and was purchased for $460000, as noted on website of Masjid Al Baqi.
