Crude bomb detected along Assam-Mizoram border defused safely

  (News Agencies) - The crude bomb which was detected by the Cachar district police nearby an under-construction site along the Assam-Mizoram border five days back was defused on Wednesday.
A bomb squad team of Assam police had safely defused the bomb at a place near the interstate border.
The crude bomb was found nearby an under-construction site at Khulicherra Singha Basti area in Assam's Cachar district along the interstate border on November 6.
Cachar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramandeep Kaur said that the bomb was defused by the squad team by following standard operating procedures.
After detection of the bomb, there was a package of gelatin sticks connected with detonators, Cachar district police had kept it in a pit for security reasons.On October 30, a low-intensity blast occurred at the Bhaicherra area under Ramnathpur police station in Assam's Hailakandi district near the inter-state border.
Six Assam police personnel were killed and 50 others wounded in a violent clash between the police forces of Assam and Mizoram in the disputed area between Lailapur in Assam's Cachar district and Vairengte in Mizoram's Kolasib district on July 26.Meanwhile, Cachar district police have deployed additional security personnel along the Assam-Mizoram border to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incident.
