Indian man wanted for murder of ex-wife found dead in Canada within days
(News Agencies)-An Indian man was found dead in Canada days after local police named him as the prime suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, also an Indian. The man -- 36-year-old Rakesh Patel -- was found dead last Friday and his identity was confirmed by local police Monday. In a statement, local police said Rakesh Patel's body was found in the city of Toronto. The police didn't reveal much about the circumstances of his death but said that "his death is not being pursued as a criminal investigation". Rakesh Patel was found dead on January 17, less than a week after police issued a nationwide warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued for the "1st Degree Murder" of 28-year-old Heeral Patel, whose body was discovered on January 13. (Under Canadian law, 1st degree murder is planned and deliberate.) Heeral Patel was found dead in the city of Brampton, which is located around 45 kms away from the city of Toronto. Police established that Heeral Patel was the victim of a murder. While police didn't reveal the cause of her death, local media has reported that she was strangulated. Both Heeral and Rakesh Patel were found dead in similar circumstances -- according to local reports, both were found by dog walkers who informed the police. Rakesh was the only suspect in Heeral's death.
