Kalank, Kesari, Gully Boy box office fight: How have 2019 films fared on extended weekend?

Abhishek Varman's opulent period drama Kalank has failed to draw the audience to the theatres, even though it boasted of a stellar cast including Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt. Despite being one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of 2019, the slow pace and lacklustre screenplay rang the death knell for the film. Kalank, which released in 4000 screens countrywide on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, could not make the most of its extended weekend. Though the film, made on a staggering budget of Rs 80 crore, earned Rs 21.60 crore to become the biggest opener of 2019, it could not retain its momentum and could only rake in Rs 66.03 crore in its five-day weekend. Here is a day-to-day breakdown of Kalank extended weekend collection:
Day 1 - Wednesday (April 17) - Rs 21.60 crore
Day 2 - Thursday (April 18) - Rs 11.45 crore
Day 3 - Friday (April 19) - Rs 11.60 crore
Day 4 - Saturday (April 20) - Rs 9.75 crore
Day 5 - Sunday (April 21) - Rs 11.63 crore
Total extended weekend collection - Rs 66.03 crore
