PNB fraud case: Nirav, Choksi on move, CBI turns to Interpol
Once, an RCN is issued, member countries of the Lyon-based international police cooperation agency can arrest and extradite Modi, who fled the country in the first week of January, weeks before the bank filed a complaint with the CBI.

With Indian probe agencies being told that absconding diamantaire Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, wanted for the estimated Rs 13,500 crore fraud at the Punjab National Bank, have moved to the United Kingdom, the CBI has sent a request to Interpol to issue Red Corner Notices against the duo.

The CBI said it is not aware of the whereabouts of the absconding jewellers — there has been no official communication so far — but it is initiating the process of issuance of RCNs as it has already filed chargesheets against them. The RCNs are likely to help the agency track Modi and Choksi and bring them back to India through official channels to face trial in the case.
