CM Yogi was ready to get rape accused MLA Kuldeep Sengar arrested but a call changed everything: BJP leader
The case dates back to June 2017 when a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao was allegedly raped by a BJP MLA and his brothers. On April 08, the survivor attempted suicide outside Yogi Adityanath's residence, blaming the authorities for not investigating the case. She further accused police of protecting perpetrators.

Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is facing massive wrath over the rape allegations against its MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and the death of the victim’s father in police custody. The case has evoked sharp reactions from various human rights groups as well as the opposition. Meanwhile, a senior BJP leader has made a shocking claim, saying Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had decided to get Sengar arrested at the CM office but his decision was changed after a phone call by a 'prominent person'.

As per senior party leader and former state minister IP Singh, "Yogi Adityanath had taken the decision to arrest Kuldeep Sengar. He was to be arrested from the CM office. The CM had also decided to expel two MLAs from Unnao. But he got a call from a prominent person and the decision got deferred. The party has to suffer the consequence of this decision." Notably, Sengar has not been arrested yet. Thanks to pressure by various groups, the police in Uttar Pradesh today registered an FIR against the BJP MLA. The UP government has also decided to hand over the probe to the CBI.
