I hope India’s success at CWG 2018 motivates more youngsters to pursue sports: Narendra Modi
By winning 66 medals at the 21st Commonwealth Games, which included 26 gold, Indian athletes definitely made their country proud by putting a brilliant show at the quadrennial extravaganza. After 11 days of action, where Indian athletes focused on giving their best, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to laud the hard work put in by each and every member of the Indian contingent.

  Soon after Indian contingent produced a stellar show at 21st Commonwealth Games by winning 66 medals in total, which is also their third-best medal finish at the Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to laud all Indian athletes who made the country proud by putting a brave show in Gold Coast 2018. On the final day in Australia, India won one Gold, four Silvers and two Bronze medals to take their medal count to 66.

Narendra Modi, who had wished luck to the Indian contingent ahead of the quadrennial extravaganza, lauded the 218-member participants for their hard work throughout the event. The Prime Minister also added that India's brilliant outing in Gold Coast will motivate youngsters in the country to pursue sports. “I hope India’s success at #GC2018 motivates more youngsters to pursue sports and creates larger awareness on the importance of fitness in everyone’s lives. On our part, we in the Government are doing everything possible to strengthen the #FitIndia movement,” he said.
