Govt committed to protecting interests of SC/STs, says Rajnath ahead of review petition hearing
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, while speaking in Lok Sabha, said that the Modi government has made no change in the SC/ST Act. He said, "Modi government is committed to upholding the SC/ST Act".
"In the past, it was our government which took several steps to protect the interest of SC/ST act", Singh said. Amid sloganeering from the Opposition, Rajnath Singh said, "there can be no doubt over Centre's intentions".
Talking about the violence that took place yesterday in at least five northern Indian states, Rajnath Singh said that the Centre is in constant touch with the state governments over the act.
