No more DACA deal, tweets Donald Trump exposing lakhs of immigrants to deportation
US President Donald Trump, in a tweet, declared that there would be no deal to legalise the status of lakhs of "Dreamers" under the immigrant program DACA.
In September 2017, Donald Trump had announced of scrapping Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the US would end the DACA program in March 2018 which will led to deportation of almost 800,000 people. Trump gave lawmakers six months to come up with a permanent solution.
"NO MORE DACA DEAL!" Trump tweeted one hour after he began the day by wishing his followers a "HAPPY EASTER!".
"A lot of people are coming in because they want to take advantage of DACA," he told reporters during the Easter services at an Episcopal church.
In his tweets, he also threatened to pull out of a free trade agreement with Mexico unless it stops people from crossing into the US. "Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!", the tweet read.
