Check Out All The Deets About Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma’s Exquisite Wedding Ensembles

If there is anything one has been talking about for the past two days it is undoubtedly Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s private wedding ceremony in Italy. ‘Virushka’ as they are popularly dubbed by their fans literally broke the internet as beautiful pictures from their exquisite wedding ceremony, which was attended only by close family and friends, got viral.

While their fairy-tale and hush-hush wedding at a Florence resort in Italy became the talk of the town, the bride and groom’s wedding trousseau grabbed eyeballs too. And to be honest, we just couldn’t take our eyes of this gorgeous couple who looked out of this world in their lovely outfits.

No prizes for guessing that the elegant outfits worn by the Jab Harry Met Sejal actress Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team captain - Virat Kohli were designed by the renowned couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

The ace designer took to his Instagram and spoke about putting together the timeless ensembles for Virushka. He wrote, “Anushka was to get married in Florence! And her lehenga just had to fit in. So, we chose a colour that would blend in the whimsical Tuscan surrounding rather than stand out. It was blush pink with tropical flora and fauna, hand embroidered in silk floss. Exotic birds and butterflies were rendered with the finest quality needle craft. It took 67 karigars, 32 days to complete the ensemble. To complement her lehenga jadau jewellery was handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls.”

Mukherjee even designed RCB’s skipper Virat’s wedding outfit. He chose to dress the man of the day in a hand embroidered ivory sherwani with an ivory tussar stole and custom woven gold Chanderi safa.

The designer further revealed in a statement, “We designed the clothes for both the bride and the groom for all the functions. From engagement to mehendi and sangeet, for the wedding and post-wedding dinner.” The designer further accessorised the couple’s ensemble with heritage jewellery from the recently launched Sabyasachi label.

Mukherjee ensured that both the bride and the groom looked stunning for all functions. Speaking about Anushka’s velvet sari for the engagement, Mukherjee said, “It was hand-embroidered using miniature pearls and the finest quality zardosi and marori. She wore an uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs.”

For the Mehendi ceremony, Anushka wanted a boho look, and Mukherjee created a beautiful fuchsia pink and orange outfit for the bride. He said, “For her mehendi, Anushka wanted a boho look full of bright colours. Hot pink was her favourite. We created a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange. It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. Artists from The Sabyasachi Art Foundation rendered a beautiful sixties pop print and it was silk screen printed, hand woven Indian silk. Anushka accessorised herself with earrings from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection, a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. Custom juttis in hand woven brocade and zardosi completed the look. Virat opted for a signature khadi kurta churidaar with our classic fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket detailed with the Sabyasachi House blazer buttons. A custom tan leather jutti with a zardosi crest was created for the ensemble.”

Mukherjee added, “It was wonderful to work with the couple. From the House of Sabyasachi, we wish Anushka and Virat a very happy married life.”

Congratulations Virushka! Wish you great new beginnings.
